The wait is almost over! The Premier League 2025/26 season is getting ready to kick off. And the first step? The full list of matches (fixtures) is being released this Wednesday, June 18 at 9:00 AM BST.
New Season, New Hopes
Just one month ago, Liverpool lifted the Premier League trophy. Now, under new coach Arne Slot, they’ll soon know who they play first as they begin their title defense. Liverpool are chasing their third Premier League title in six years.
New Teams Joining the League
Three clubs are
back in the Premier League this
season:
Sunderland, promoted through the
play-offs, return after 9 years.
Leeds United, back after two years.
Burnley, promoted right away and now in
their 9th Premier League season.
All three teams are ready to fight hard to stay in the top flight.
When Does the New Season Start?
The Premier League starts on Saturday, August 16,
2025. That’s 83 days
after the last match of the 2024/25 season. Like other years, the very first
game could happen on Friday night.
The full season has: 33 weekends of matches, 5 midweek rounds and it will ends on Sunday, May 24, 2026
Game times and days might change due to TV scheduling, so fans will need to check regularly.
Who’s Playing
This Year?
Arsenal hope to win their first title
since 2004.
Man City, after a rare season without
trophies, want to bounce back.
Chelsea, Newcastle, and Tottenham are in
the Champions League.
Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, and Nottingham
Forest will play in European tournaments too.
Manchester United missed out on Europe, so new coach Ruben Amorim will focus on the Premier League.
Everton’s New Stadium
Everton say goodbye to Goodison Park and start fresh at their new Hill Dickinson Stadium, with 52,888 seats.
A Busy Football Year
This Premier League
season happens between two World Cups:
FIFA Club World Cup (2025)
FIFA World Cup (2026)
That means many
clubs, like Man City and Chelsea,
may play early if they reach the Club World Cup final—just 34 days after last season ended.
To help, the league
made sure:
No teams play two
games within 60 hours
No matches will be played on Christmas Eve
The 2025/26 Premier League season is almost here! With new fixtures, exciting teams, and big matches
