FIFA Club World Cup 2025: Al Ahly Hold Messi’s Inter Miami to Thrilling Opening Draw

The highly anticipated kickoff to the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup ended in a 0-0 stalemate between Inter Miami and Egyptian giants Al Ahly, held at Miami Gardens on June 14, 2025.

Inter Miami make Draw

Despite the excitement surrounding Lionel Messi’s Club World Cup debut, neither side could find the net in a game filled with drama, missed opportunities, and standout goalkeeping.

Inter Miami's goalkeeper Oscar Ustari was a key figure in the first half, stopping a crucial penalty to keep his team level. Meanwhile, Messi struggled to impact the early proceedings but came alive after the break.

The second half saw the MLS side push forward, with Messi nearly breaking the deadlock from a well-placed free kick. He later delivered a pinpoint cross to Fafa Picault, whose powerful header was denied by Mohamed El Shenawy in goal.

In the dying seconds, Messi almost snatched victory, but once again, El Shenawy produced a world-class save to secure the draw for Al Ahly.

Though the match ended without goals, it was anything but dull—setting the tone for an exciting tournament ahead.
